Philly on Tap: Four Breweries You Need to Add to Your List
Hey, Pint Perspective followers — we’ve hit the taps again, and this time, we explored four fantastic Philadelphia breweries that deserve a spot on your next city beer crawl. From riverside classics to bold newcomers, each stop brought something special to the table (and the pint glass). So grab your friends, update your must-visit list, and get ready to toast your way through Philly’s ever-growing craft beer scene.
Wissahickon Brewing Co. – East Falls
We’ve been big fans of Wissahickon Brewing Co. since visiting their newer location in Olde Kensington, but this was our first time at their original East Falls home — and wow, what a difference in vibe. Nestled near the river and surrounded by greenery, the East Falls location has that down-to-earth, nature-inspired energy that feels perfect for a post-hike pint. Despite the change in scenery, the beer remains as excellent as ever. Whether you’re sipping a hazy IPA or one of their seasonal specialties, the quality and craftsmanship shine through.
Fat Lady Brewing
Next up, Fat Lady Brewing — and let’s just say, this one’s got personality. From the bold flavors on tap to the eclectic, art-filled atmosphere, this brewery is bursting with creativity. Their branding is as memorable as their beer lineup, and it all adds up to a one-of-a-kind experience that sticks with you long after the last pour. If you’re into vibrant, community-driven spaces that don’t take themselves too seriously, Fat Lady Brewing is your kind of place. The tasting room sported a circus theme. We also got word that they had some local authors coming in collaboration with the nearby bookstore.
Twisted Gingers Brewing Co.
“Celebrate life with a twist!” — that’s the motto at Twisted Gingers Brewing Co., and they absolutely live up to it. Their beers bring a fun, hop-forward punch with just the right amount of experimentation. Each brew tells a story, full of flavor and flair. It’s the kind of spot where you can settle in for a few pints and still be surprised by what’s next on the tap list. Whether you’re a craft beer veteran or just love trying something new, this place keeps things exciting. A highlight of this spot for me was the front of the building, designed to look like one of the beer cans.
Manayunk Brewing Company
Finally, we wrapped up our day at the iconic Manayunk Brewing Company — a true Philly staple that’s stood the test of time. Built right under the famous Manayunk Bridge and overlooking the Schuylkill River, it’s hard to beat this location for atmosphere. The brewpub carries a bit of local legend too: staff shared stories of past flooding that temporarily filled the building with river water (thankfully, the beer stayed dry!). Even on a chilly day, we couldn’t resist stepping out to the only outdoor deck directly on the river — it’s a must-see view, especially with a pint in hand.
Each of these breweries brings something distinct to Philly’s craft beer landscape — from nature-infused community hubs to riverside classics. Whether you’re chasing bold flavor, creative energy, or local history, this city continues to deliver one pour at a time.
